This is an area that I have not really gotten into much in the past. I have always thought it was kinda stupid actually, but now I find myself with a reason to look into it. Come Monday morning my BII will get pressed into service as a kiddie-carrier and I can't find any of those window shade hangers that will cover enough of the bay windows to keep the sun out of his face.

I know my state's laws (which are really pretty vague) state a nominal 70% maximum (although that is a recommendation from DOT, not an explicit limit in the law itself).

Now, I have two big questions.

1) Is the number on the package light loss or light transmittance?

2) Where can I buy blue sheets big enough to do the rear windows on a BII?

If nothing else. Check ebay for precut pieces. It's about $150 or so when I looked before though

I was looking at E-bay and couldn't find what I wanted.

There must be cut-to-fit sheets somewhere judging by the crappy job the PO did on the existing stuff.

There are cut to fit out there. There should be "truck" rolls that are like 42" wide or something.

I found a kit for $30, any shade, but no blue.

Also, they list it as fitting 88 BII, all trim, 2.9L OHV naturally aspirated. If I put this stuff on and then put a supercharger or a 4.0 in it later will that make the window tint work right anymore?

Yeah, we de-tint used cars all the time because people put the super dark stuff on. I figure I can just take it down to work on a Saturday morning and get the recon guys to help me get the old stuff off.

Amazon told me that the 94 Explorer block heater I bought won't fit my 87 Ranger.

I guess that's because I forgot to tell them that my truck is actually a 94 Explorer dressed up like an 87 Ranger.

You can't have tint on a BII with a supercharged 4.0l... You can't see all the cars your faster then.

Tint % is the measurement of light transference. (5% is very dark, usually called limo tint.). Most states allow anything behind the driver to be as dark as you want, as long as you have outside mirrors on both sides. The big differences state to state are front windows.

Ok, that is what I was after.

Yeah, PA's tint laws are kind of vague. The letter of the law is that the tint may not prevent the driver from seeing out of or prevent others from seeing into the vehicle with no actual percentage specified. And you may not have anything below the AS1 line on the windshield.

Since I am only doing the bay windows and maybe the back glass to keep the sun out of the baby's face I am thinking I might go with a 25%. Now I just need to find blue.

25-35% is good for what you want.

Forget about blue. The colored tints fade quickly and just don't look good.
