3"..............I wanted the top of the tire flush with the top of the fender arch.....or maybe an inch clearance. You can see how high the fender is above the tire when the body was in place.....

Trs website banner trip

HERE'S SOME PICS OF ME PICKING UP THE 2ND TRS BANNER........

DG is headed south with the banner. God graced us with no rain at Enid Lake even though I drove through a flood to get there and home.

DG, it was good to finally meet you!

Ben..........Thanks for meeting me at Lake Enid....I had a great time talking with you and being handed the Banner that's been from glaciers all the way to the swamps so far!

I have 25 photos......but my internet keeps locking up....so I'll post a few tonight and try to post the rest in this same reply tomorrow.....as my little eyes are trying to close from the 1st leg of 12 hours bouncing around in a little red Ranger.........smiling the whole time......

Here's the starting mileage 7 a.m. Sunday morning........

I didn't feel like using a half-hour getting to the Super Dome ....so here's a vintage photo of the "starting point".........

I'm crossing one of the back-road old-school steel-grating bridges around 7: a.m....How about that stream-lined hood........

Making the Interstate change at 8a.m.----*New Orleans to Hammond*, later on to Jackson, Mississippi.......

I have to stop posting now or I'll lose everything I've uploaded---the Net is acting up again!

Let's try posting more pics today/Monday.............

I passed Britney Spears house in Kentwood, La. about 30 minutes ago, but she wouldn't come out to be am honorary Banner-signer....Here comes good old Mississippi---now all I have to do is travel North for HOURS......

Now I'm 3 hours into the trip and about halfway to the meeting-point at Jackson, Miss (the 24 oz. coffee and donuts are now history/those are all Loo-z-anna bugs smeared on the windshield)........

About 10:30 a.m. all the bugs got washed away with a short thunderstorm north of Jackson Miss......YAY!!!!!!!!!!..............

All the gauges are looking good............blurrry---but good.........that rectangular hole to the right in the dash is where the new radio was gonna go..............but.........doorgunner don't need no stinking radio---he got lots of stuff going on in his wittle bwain to keep him busy...................

Lunch at Taco Bell......guess what parks at the front door by my truck.......and guess what color it is......

You saw right.........3 bolts vibrated out of the driver's side engine panel......F.O.R.D........................

I have to stop posting now and try to up/down load more pics into photobukket.

Let's try again........................I arrived an hour early at 12 noon, the clouds were rolling in so I got a few pics in case the weather really got bad.......

Here's a long distance shot of the Lake Enid Welcome Center/This place is spotless and well organized........

Here's the little red Ranger taking a good break and enjoying the scenery....

That lake is HUGE----there was a big thunderstorm in the distance over the lake'---the lake made the storm look small............

One more pic of the Ranger........4.0B2 ought to be arriving soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

More pics after while....my bwain is locking up now as much as the internet......need V.A.meds..(Rats).....

He's here! 4.0B2/Ben arrived with the Banner in the big green monster...................

Moar Ford pics.............................

Time to unfold the Banner................................

This scene looks kinda familar to me......(LOL/2010 Banner Trip)..................

Let's see.................capital D........oo.......r....uhhhhh......gunn.....e.......a....."NO"........r......there----that looks right......

IT'S MINE.....ALL MINE......(hmmmmmmmmmm......smells a little bit like smoked salmon)..............

2 p.m.........................Time to hit the road and head back home

GPS'ing in the dark on the way home...........almost 6 hours later...............

Nightime blurry pic of the gauges---everything is O.K...........................

In the driveway at home-------ending mileage of the 1st phase of the Loo-z-anna trip......only 600+ miles round trip........

Glad you made it there and back, and the truck is a thing of beauty.

What's the next leg?

You gonna run that down to the Keys?

I never noticed the cracked windshield before, I suppose it is on the list.

Doorgunner you did one of my pet peeves by taking up two parking stalls, I will let you go with a warning this time but next time I might have to take time off work to come down there to shake your hand.

Well, DG and I have a pet peeve too. It's called door dings from someone who can't appreciate all the time and effort you've put in to the car. In my Mustang I always use two stalls too, and always park in no-mans-land. It keeps altercations at a minimum.

Me too!/Thanks!/It depends if the Texas members still want the Banner/The Keys?!?!......My wife would make THAT trip with me just for the fun of it!

Crack? In all these years, I've had a rock hit the windshield on 3 different trips......ALL THE CHIPS ARE WITHIN 1 INCH OF EACH OTHER!

That Ranger would look good at Land's End with the Sun goin' down. :icon_thumby:
