    Oversize A/T Tire Experience

lil_Blue_Ford I ended up getting a set of 30x9.5x15 Yokohama Geolandar A/T tires. Perfect tires for this 1998 Ranger. Really improves the stance. Of course, I had to upgrade the tires from the Walmart/OEM size tires. For my family's safety. I don't notice a big difference in drivability. with...

    Oversize A/T Tire Experience

My Ranger is slow, that's for sure. According to my mechanic, the advantage of the 3.0 L V6 is that it will last forever.

The real differential tag also says: '7 5'. And where my AAA credit card outweighed common sense, I had a Yukon Gear and Axle limited slip rear differential installed. PNW Ranger

Gears are 4.10. Sometimes in wonder when I'm driving on the highway if the 3.0 L v6 might be happier with larger OD tires.

    Oversize A/T Tire Experience

I have a 1998 Ford Ranger XL, 4x4, automatic transmission, 3.0 Liter V6. It has the stock tire size 235-75R-15, Walmart specials. Just looking a the rig, it's obvious that the tires are undersized for the wheel wells. So I'm considering buying a set of bigger A/T tires, either 30x9.5R 15 or...

Error Code with Aftermarket Locking Hubs

Yes, for the 1998 Ranger with an automatic transmission. Put the transmission into neutral, put foot on brake. The turn the knob from 4H to 4L.

Error Code with Aftermarket Locking Hubs

4WD Low is controlled with a knob: 2H, 4H, 4L. It won't to into 4 Low. I don't think the aftermarket hubs themselves are the problem, but the circuitry associated the OEM PVH solenoid that allows the Ranger to go into 4 Low.

Error Code with Aftermarket Locking Hubs

RonD: Thanks for your assistance. The reason my mechanic is diving into this issue is that my Ranger won't go into 4WD Low. See my earlier post on this issue. 4WD High is fine. So it's an obscure issue. I may never need to put the Ranger into 4WD Low, but at least I want it to work. Thanks again

Error Code with Aftermarket Locking Hubs

1998 Ford Ranger. I installed Mile Marker 426 manual locking hubs. My mechanic says the Ranger is unhappy with this upgrade, and is throwing an error code because it is looking for the OEM automatic vacuum locking hubs. And not finding them. Is there a work around for this? Thanks

    1985 Eddie Bauer Bronco II

Gordy: I don't know who is buying the 1st Gen Broncos now, but they have more free cash than I do. I think you're right in that the Bronco II is kind of cool in its own right, and affordable. It's also good looking, Ford got the styling right. Most of those 1st Gen Broncos are very basic (I...
