What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Undoubtedly due to the fact that the massive torque of the 4 cylinder engine required the stronger joint...

Rear drum break upgrade to disc brake

You can mount the bracket to put the caliper in front of, or behind the axle. Depending on which you choose, you need the opposite caliper - you mount the caliper with the bleed port at the top in any case. If you ask 10 people, you will get roughly 5-5 about whether the caliper should be...

What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I bought a couple of jy parts - the ones off the mid-2000s irs Explorers. All you have to do is grind off the suspension ears on the sides and they fit perfectly. And they were like $5 each. I just haven't put one on yet... its nowhere near the top of my list yet.

sound while driving (dont know where to put this thread)

There are several more candidates including a loose u-joint or a loose driveshaft slip joint that can make clunk type noises when load goes on/off.

351 or 302 mods for Tri-y headers for AOD

The width is about the same, but the Cleveland has less choices for oil pans and headers, so its more challenging from that standpoint.

What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

The oil filter has a bypass valve which bypasses nearly all of the oil at flows higher than idle, so it should not matter. A plugged oil filter will only result in no filtering at all, it will not cause a reduction of pressure/flow that the engine experiences.

351 or 302 mods for Tri-y headers for AOD

@19Walt93 - can you show us the photo of the steering shaft side? That is usually a big issue for a 351 block in a Ranger.

I am interested in a super chip for my 4.0 liter 2011 Ford Ranger

You would get the same performance gain by just sending me the money and letting me gamble it away. Seriously. Off the shelf tunes have a bad reputation for a reason. Very few of them do anything useful.

    Steering Wheel swap question

I use the selector from this site (http://www.grantproducts.com/products/browse/installation-kits/automotive/) to see what is compatible with what other stuff. So far they have been correct in every instance.

351 or 302 mods for Tri-y headers for AOD

Please post photos of the drivers side - hoping to get clarity on how much interference there will be related to the front driveshaft. I know everyone says its impossible, but I would love to see photos of the driver side.

How to clean a mass air flow sensor on 2002, 3 l ranger.

There is a spray cleaner specifically designed for mafs cleaning, that is what to use. Available at pretty much any parts store.

    98 ranger parts and compatabolity

Since they are the same from 98-11, you should easily find one at the junk yard.

I have measured but need a second opinion

They will fit fine and likely be pretty comfortable once you are in them, but you will quickly tire of climbing in and out of them with all that side bolster...

Where do you get your trailer hitch stuff? also which kind of pintle is better?

We have a couple very good trailer hitch places in the area, and I would expect you would have at least one in your area too. That is where I suggest you go, although etrailer seems to be a decent choice as well.

    225/70/15 vs 235/75/15

The 2.3L is a dog to begin with. I would not make it 5% more of a dog by putting on taller tires.

What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Did oil and filter change (Mobil1 high mileage and Motorcraft filter) and replaced a broken front sway bar link. If I ever did offroading in this truck, I would remove the sway bar link, but since it is virtually always on the highway, I like how it corners with the sway bar.
