2.3L ('83-'97) 1983 ranger 2.3 need slave cylinder retention clip help!

just joined because i have a serious issue finding a part for my 1983 ford ranger. the slave cylinder is held on by a clip retainer that i have apparently lost and no one, not even ford knows it ever existed. anyone have a clue? i will attach picks. 931-seven seven seven-9830

I believe the cover holds it on. The Haynes manual does not mention removing a clip.

that would explain why i cant find a retainer in my bucket of parts. i cant believe ford wants this plastic cover to work as the sole retention device....now some 40 years latter that plastic is in weak broken condition and can not be found for sale anywhere. i will devise something better than they come up. thanks for taking the time to find this article. i have an old manual but it didnt have anything like this in it, and the internet wasn't helpful either. i think i may make a collar for the slave and put a bolt thru it and the fork of the bell housing to hold it on...then the [plastic 40 year old cover. if you have an idea of where i can find that cover in usable condition let me know. cheers.
