I can't find an access plate to get to the TC as I'm trying to remove blown 4.0 OHV; and working through the starter hole sucks. Maybe I have to remove the oil pan...If it has the correct engine-to-transmission separator plate there should be a small access plate to get to the TC nuts.
Otherwise, pull the starter, work through the starter hole.
Edit: if the motor's locked, then yes, you'll need to pull the TC on the flexplate.
Not sure if that would get you in a better placeI can't find an access plate to get to the TC as I'm trying to remove blown 4.0 OHV; and working through the starter hole sucks. Maybe I have to remove the oil pan...
Really not looking forward to reassembly.
If you're pulling the motor, I'd recommend pulling the TC after the motor is out of the vehicle. I pulled a 4.0 OHV out of a '92 Explorer about a week ago, with the TC still bolted on. I had the radiator out, but nothing else forward of that point. It was snug getting out, but not difficult.I can't find an access plate to get to the TC as I'm trying to remove blown 4.0 OHV; and working through the starter hole sucks.
