My credo
Toonces drives a Ranger . . . . just not very well.
Nice truck, but I think it's repainted. The hood stops on the radiator support panel are painted over.

Yep. It's been repainted.

But it is very clean, and I have no problems accepting that it has 28,000 miles on it.

Yeah that was on here not too long ago. Looks like maybe they never sold it?

Also, if you look at the one pic of the 2.9, you will see a round disc like thing with Vacuum lines or something. Its right behind the windshield washer fluid res. What the hell is that??
Are you talking about the cruise control vacuum module?

I worked in a Ford dealership body shop in 1988.. All of the Rangers and F series for that matter that I saw had paint on the hood stops and rock gaurd was an option back then... I think that is the origional paint myself... I bought my mother a brand new looking 1988 STX 4X4 in 1991 with 15 K on it.. It had 60 K when she sold it and looked like it did when I bought it. I got that truck for 6K... Now I wish I would have bought it from her...

one thing i never got, why the hell did ford put bright red and blue buttons on everything power? what an eyesore! lol, and those cup holders, every car make had those though, where they were just little circles to place your drink.... would never actually hold a drink while moving! lol. you would think someone would just get the idea..... "if i raise the sides a little, the drink wont spill!". i love '80's, early '90's vehicles though, so much more charactor.

Ramsey new jersey? lol i bought a 1995 saab 9000cs from there back in 07. For only 3,000 bucks too, with 120,000 miles. Literally nothing was wrong with the car when i bought it besides the brakes where so worn they hit the rotors. im still, even three years later pissed i totalled it. it was the best car deal i ever had considering how quick it was stock, and the price and condition of it.

The hood stops on my buddy's 89 Ranger are painted as well. IIRC, so was my 91 Explorer.

First of all, wow attention to detail. I also have no experience with 1st or 2nd Gens. Even though it may be stock, you have a quick eye.

And I am astonished at the condition of it. That is one helluva nice find. Why would you want to preserve a B2 though? I mean, a rare sports car, okay. That's like not driving a Focus after 30K mi and expect it to be a collector's item in the year 2033. I understand if a l'il ol' lady had it and never drove it, but...meh.

Kudos. :icon_hornsup:

i honestly in my own opinion dont think it is all origional. for an 87 there would be atleast a little rust or fade .

but it is verry nice though
Yeah, im starting to think the same. Unless they just put shitty paint on newer vehicles nowa days. becuase my 2003 ford ranger already has a friggen rust bubble on one of the doors. Which pissed me off when i saw that shit.

Good input, everybody. I'm starting to lean towards this truck being original paint.

I went back through some of my Ranger/B2 pictures, and I see that the radiator stops came both painted with body color, and unpainted from the factory. Wish I knew why that was. But the three older RBVs that I have, are all with unpainted stops.

In the posted picture that caught my attention, there's other parts not painted body color, which would have been a hell of a lot harder to remove, than the hood stops.

So- it looks to me now that this is one incredibly clean original truck.

Wish that I had bags and bags of money that I needed to spend . . .

That thing either is all original or the guy had piles and piles of NOS parts and completly restored it.

The interior is just as clean and perfect as the exterior.

Its been repainted for sure. aside from orange peel in the paint thats noticeable ( wouldn't leave Ford like that )
Look at the door sticker. Its been peeled off and placed back. See the edges and the bubbles with the old paint on it. You can buy new belt diagram stickers and fluid stickers but you cant buy an original build sticker so they stuck it back on. See the brand new pan head screws around the fenders on the quarters ( silver screws on new tan paint ? wouldn't have left the factory like that ) After market kick plates in the thresh hold ( were tan ABS to match interior from the factory these are polished aluminum for some reason), JYD front axle ( see the paint marker they forgot to clean off in the pic ? ) Even red paint smeared on the bottom of the front axle pumpkin. New fuel high pressure pump and shield on the frame rail as well.
New access panels on the fire wall to the cowl ( the original they just thought would look snazy the original color on red ? )
Its a restore , and a good one, but why not list it that way instead of "all original"
Its been steam cleaned and vasolined for sure. Its nice but I think personally they found an estate sale truck that sat wrecked or other wise for 15 years, ran some mystery oil though it, replaced what needed to get it running, painted it and selling it.

That round disc is the cruise control servo.
