I had some stainless panels in my Amazon cart... good thing I measured things before I bought them. Drivers side is over 14 inches long

I ended up with some mild steel ones. I have some toggles in couple sizes that I'm going to end up using. I did see some butterfly plastic anchors... for drywall. They would only pull down to the thickness of drywall. This won't be that thick.

Probably thinker with it here and there til done. So don't ne looking for photos anytime soon.

In my mind... it should work. I guess we will see.

fwiw, even on the later trucks that only have the small round holes for air intake, somehow leaves still get in there. I have a leaf in the blower motor now on the 09...

Oh I know... I think I have one in my 06 right now. But the 4 inch long slots on the first Gen let all kinds of stuff in there. This will certainly slow it down and hopefully prevent plugging up the drains.

Well... I might not have nailed it... as my lighter might suggest.

I looked at these panels for too long and got one with a bit bigger holes then I was hoping. Should still slow it down some...

I would hem the two long edges and bend the short ones so they clip into the 2 outer slots. Should be pretty easy if you have access to a brake.

That's a good idea. If the stainless isn't too thick a metal door may work for your brake.

Hmmmm...

I don't have a metal brake. I do have a vise and flat stock though.

I ended up buying mild steel panels. To get the length I needed... it drove the price up. I also remembered I hate working with stainless.

I'd think a brake for that could be made with two long straight edges and a couple vice grips

I think mice drag the leaves in through the drains, there’s no way a leaf gets through those holes
