don't have any heat at the moment. everything seems functional. looked up a vacuum diagram for the climate controls. and it applies vacuum to the valve in the engine bay when the switch is on max a/c or off. How mine is set up, that is when it allows coolant to flow through the heater core. does any one know the proper routing of heater core hoses on these? or am i better off pulling it and trial and error until it works right?

Should be small arrows molded into the valve to show the flow routing. Before you take it apart, get the engine hot and feel the hoses and see if you can figure out what's going on. You should be able to move the little valve with your finger to override the vacuum and make the valve work.
