I'm wondering if anyone has an idea what you have to do to just put a normal distributor on a 5.0. I am going to make it carburated and it will be a race engine. my main question is, will just a sbf distributer work and still have the oil pump drive shaft work, or is there a special length distributor that will work? I really just want to know if any of you have done it, and what you have had to do.
what do i have to do to pull that electronic shaft out of where a distributor would go on a 96 explorer 5.0 engine, and just have a simple old school distributor?
to give you the exact engine that im working with, its a 96' 5.0 out of an explorer with the GT heads.

I know this is probably confusting, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!
