The 2003 Ranger XLT idles rough and is rough maintaining a steady speed/mph. Giving it gas a above the idle or above the steady speed it smooths out. It shows 3 DTC codes. Flashing Red 025 /// HTR /// EGR

1) P0443 Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit. DTC Severity 1 of 3.

2) P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input

3) P0113 Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit High Temperature

Any direction/info/suggestions/analysis will be greatly appreciated

Mass Air flow sensor is serious as well as the air temp sensor. Not sure, but I thought some of these systems they started putting the mass air flow and the air intake temp sensor in the same unit. If they did, sounds like it's faulty or unplugged. It should be in the intake hose somewhere.

Yes, 2003 Ranger will have the 6 wire MAF/Air temp sensor unit
Clean it first, easy to do
And check the connector for corrosion
Its possible these two codes are causing the running issues, but............

Did the misfires, i.e. rough idle and driving, start as soon as the codes came up(CEL came on) or did you notice the misfires for awhile and THEN the codes came up?

Not sure what this means: "Flashing Red 025 /// HTR /// EGR"

Flashing CEL(check engine light), orange or yellow, means misfires are occurring at that moment so "back off the gas pedal" or engine damage can occur
This may or may not set a "misfire" code, i.e. P0301 to P0306
But Flashing CEL is a serious issue

P0443 is an EVAP system code so won't effect engine operation

There are several EVAP system codes, these are just some of them, not all
P0440 Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction
P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
P0442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)
P0443 Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit
P0444 Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit
P0445 Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit Shorted
P0446 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction
P0447 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Open
P0448 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Shorted
P0449 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Valve/Solenoid Circuit Malfunction
P0450 Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Malfunction
P0451 Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Range/Performance
P0452 Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Low Input
P0453 Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor High Input
P0454 Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Intermittent
P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak)

P0443 and 0444 are generic Purge Valve CIRCUIT codes
They mean one of the two wires that operate the valve is disconnected or the valves internal "coil wire" is broken
Can even be the computer's Purge Valve internal circuit is bad

Thanks guys I watched a you tube video where a guy was actually working on a 2000 rangers MAV. He was going to clean it but on its underside what looked like one of the filaments (?) was broken so ended up replacing it. I surprisingly have some MAV cleaner so will try to clean it tomorrow.

Any tricks, how to's or you better watch outs I need to know about? I don't want to ruin it if it only need to be cleaned properly.

Just need to spray it off with the cleaner
Don't handle the sensor parts

Cleaned the MAV sensor this morning maybe ran a tad better... thought replacing the sensor would fix it.... thought wrong.

Thanks for the input.

Can changing the filler neck cause a P0443 code, by chance? Came on after it’s first long run since changing a cracked neck. TIA just wondering before I dig deeper :)

No, not likely

P0443 is a "circuit" code, so wiring issue or device issue usually

This code would be more likely if the filler wasn't sealed, so had an air leak
P0442 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)
or
P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak)

Its good to look up codes on a full list like this one: https://www.therangerstation.com/tech/obd-ii_trouble_codes/

You will see codes the computer DID NOT use so can eliminate those causes for the code or codes it did use

Above is not ALL the codes but has most of the basic Powertrain(P) codes

Ok my dumb butt misremembered the code, and I reset it buut it came back on last night after about 30 mins of tooling around. It’s P1443. Could be a leaky gas cap or a block in the lines, or a failed part along the set up, correct? I will have to dig around, follow the line and see if anything is cracked or clogged is my understanding. Going to clean the MAF for good measure and make sure the intake side of things is breathing well too. New at this and working on a budget so it’s up to me lol

Have you disconnected the IAC ? Idle Air Control. RPM should drop when disconnected if it's working . Can be removed and cleaned too.
