How Many miles before change Timing Chain?

Can someone tell me how many miles I should go be before changing the timing chain on the 4.0L OHV engine ?

You never have to replace it. Keep it in there till the engine dies.

I have my heads off (cracked) changing my water pump. only 104K miles. Do not really want to change the timing chain.

I've seen the factory timing chain go 250K plus in 2.9 engines

The very similar timing chain setup in the 4.0 has a better tensioner design and the chain is under less stress, because to spin the cam in a 4.0 takes only 30% as much force as the one in the 2.9.

Sound strange? Two word for you: "Roller Cam"

There is NO reason the timing chain in a 4.0OHV to EVER wear out.

My 08 Chevy came with a paper that sez the chain has been tested to 200K and is expected to NEVER need changing.. WOW!

The worst case of a timing chain problem I ever say was on a 1977 Chevy V6. The chain had stretched so much that it wore a hole in the upper and lower side of the timing cover. Oil everywhere, but it still ran ok. Owner would just dump in a bunch of oil, and take off. :)shady
