When I come to a stop, literally I am stopped, the engine THEN engages into first causing a subtle yet noticable thud/jerk. Does this coming out of 1st as well. All other gear transitions seem okay. Something seems off.

Doesn't feel like u-joints.

Full Tranny flush was performed 6 months ago / 9k ago.

Could this be a vacuum module issue? Does my engine even have a vacuum module on the transmission? and... can I fix this myself??

thanks all!

mine does the same thing, I think its the trans mount or a motor mount but haven't checked.

maybe, but it really feels like the transmission.... I pulled on the yoke and u-joints and they didn't seem to feel loose.

I have similar problem that started today in my 95 ext. cab, automatic, 2wd, 175k miles one-owner ... but only get the thud when slowing to a stop (as trans shifts into first gear, I guess). Very smooth on upshifts; otherwise, no problems. Trans serviced like clockwork every 30k miles. The "thud" doesn't happen every single time, but always does if I stop suddenly.
