I have an 86 ranger and the wiper only works on the fast setting, The pulse anf medium setting does not work at all. I figured it was the switch so I repaced that with a new one and still no change. I just found out about the wiper relay did not think of that before, Is it more likely that the relay is out or the motor?

Thanks,
Dan

Probably the wiper relay.

I would rule out the motor and say it could be the relay not switching on like it should.

ok sounds logical because the motor is plenty strong on the fast setting.

It is possibly the govenor (relay). I added the delay wipers on my 83 I had to get the switch and the govenor. It plugged right in and works great. The govenor on mine was by the fuse block under the dash. Check your connectors for corrosion there are 4 wires to the motor red is hot all the time the key is on if your getting power in low and high positions it is the motor if not it is in the wires switch or govenor. I believe wht is high and dk/blu is low/pulse but not sure. Does the govenor click when have it on delay. I fought it forever trying to use a aftermarket delay finally went to the bone yard and pulled the govenor and switch and plugged it right in. I mounted the govenor on the duct for the floor vent it needs a good ground for it to work another possible problem.
