After i blew my last rangers motor i couldnt just walk away. (old truck) i had to stay in the family. so i picked myself up an 03 Ranger 4x4 4.0L with a 5 speed. 104k on the motor and really clean. talked them down to 7250 after doing some serious nitpicking on it. exactly the same as my old truck except 100k miles less :D

didnt take long before i was buying goodies. i dont think i had her for 2 weeks before i found a set of 2" keys, longer greaseable shackles, and superlift shocks all around for $275 shipped off ebay.

just got around to the lift last weekend. i like it. the ride isnt bad. it actually softened up a bit once i threw the tires from my old truck onto her. also bought another set of the vent visors for the windows. such a good investment. and hey! did i mention this truck came stock with 4.10's instead of 3.73s like my old truck. that extra 60hp from the sohc motor and the 4.10's make rolling these tires a hell of a lot easier. :icon_thumby:

and thanks to tax returns i currently have this waiting to be installed.

Detroit truetrac. just waiting for the weather to cooperate so i know i can ride the motorcycle for a few days should it take me more than a day to install it.

that's about all i've done for now. i eventually plan on probably doing a SAS and maybe sitting on 35's. haven't really decided yet. also i swiped my 1400w 4ch amp from my old truck so just trying to figure out if i want to run the speakers again or just make a box and put it to 2 subs.
also trying to decide if i want to put the new OE fender flares on it or keep it bare. definitely going to swap the front bumper for one with foglights and get a new radio bezel so i can have the factory button. also. cab lights, lighted 06+ mirrors, and my KC lights which i saved are a must again... i miss lighting up like a christmas tree. lol

Enter the Super Ranger

finally got the right amount of drive, time, and nice weather to get this thing going. Its the MODD Box 3.5psi kit. really clean and mostly straight forward. The modd box kit calls out about 10hrs complete install time. due to rusted bed bolts and other small issues here and there i finished in 23hrs. better late then never. Let the truck porn begin!

first step is the bigger flow fuel pump. pulled the bed for easy access. only took 4 hours to break all the bed bolts free

after i put that back together i cleaned the frame and undercoated it.

sunday morning i started the disassembly process at about 8am.

no more intake

mated the screw to the upper intake plennum

lower plennum on first. then bolt the screw assembly on

after fighting with the intake manifold off the back we finally got that lined up and figured out. called it a night at 8:30. no breaks all day

monday after work I finished the electrical and had to re seal one part with RTV so i couldnt even start her up :bawling:

The finished product!

click for video

End result is a 50hp gain and 51 exta lbft for torque. supposedly 2 or 3 mpg if i can keep my foot off the floor. we'll see how that goes :icon_twisted:

so far i have about 20 miles on the motor. big difference leaving stop lights. i havent got on it hard yet (waiting for the computer to fully readjust) but it definitely pulls harder. not to mention the sound is amazing! :icon_bounceblue::yahoo:

went on a camping trip over the weekend. truck was fully loaded and i managed to get 18.5mpg mostly highway as opposed to 16.6 on my last highway trip before the super. i'm pretty excited about that considering i'm rolling around on 33's

finally got around to installing that truetac last weekend. that thing is no joke. if i even think about accelerating through a tighter corner, the inside tire starts chirping trying to keep up. can't wait to see how it works in the snow. anyway. heres the install

take out the terrible open carrier

put the ring gear and tone ring on the new unit

find the right shims, slide it in and torque it down. simple as that

did a little aesthetic mod a few weeks back. since this truck didnt come with fender flares or front mud flaps i noticed there was some paint chips on the rocker panels. well i decided to take care of the with some black hammerite paint. its supposedly really strong stuff. came out more grey than i was expecting but for now it matches the plastic bumpers and trim
