Pennzoil 5w30 synthetic here

im new, changing oil tomorrow. got some seafoam in there right now to clean it up some. Im going with wix filter and castrol gtx high mileage 5w30

btw anyone know what size the drain bolt is? I want to replace it too.

Motorcraft FL1A and Motorcraft 5w30 in the ranger

Motorcraft FL820S and Motorcraft 5w30 in the Sport Trac

I have ran Castrol 5w-30, Castrol Blend 5w-30, Mobil 1 5w-30, and Royal Purple 10w-30. Currently, I'm using Royal Purple 5w-30 and a Motorcraft FL-1A oil filter since the odometer read 95K miles. I change my oil every 5k miles.

Valvoline max life full synthetic 5w-30 or Motorcraft 5w-30 full synthetic. and fram filter. going to switch motorcraft filter though. can you only get those at a dealership though?

I've pretty much used Quaker State in all my vehicles over the last 15 or 20 years...never had a problem with it other than the price keeps going up...and I've used QS filters on my Ranger all the time...the Zuki is another story because QS filters are not available for 95s for some reason...

Castrol GTX 10W-40 in my Jeep and 10W-30 in my Ranger. When I put the V-8 in it will also get 10W-40.

No. Any parts house will have them. I get mine from Walmart.

Good choice getting away from Fram. My truck had a Fram filter when I bought it. Took 3/4 sec to register oil pressure on cold starts. It is almost instant w/ the Motorcraft.

I stick with whatever's fruity.

Seriously, I stay with Valvoline or Castrol. 10w-30 for normal driving, 10w-40 if I know I'm going to be hard on the engine. I'm stuck on deciding to go to a synthetic blend or not though...

It's probably just me, but I've always used the cheapo Exxon one. If you're wondering, yes, engine on f150 has 300K+ miles and still runs great. Tranny is another whole mess though.

I actually never noticed this, but a while back, went to a Advanced auto parts, and the guy was showing me that they had some Shell oil on sale, but then the manager comes and tells me that if I was going to buy a Shell oil, to just pick up the "advanced auto" name brand since it was the same thing and even though Shell was on sale, it was still more expensive than the Advanced. Shurely enough, looked in the back of box, and both Advanced and Shell came from the same place. Heck, the advanced box even said "Oil processed by Shell Oi Refineryl"

To me... Oil is Oil as long as its CLEAN. Its gotta be some thicker oil for my ol' 2.9 so I use any cheepo parts house 10W-40 and I run a Motocraft FL1A oil filter on any vehicle of mine that will accept it. Its that simple, this way I can save my money for mods that will actually make my engine preform better.

I normally use a Motorcraft filter and whatever name brand conventional oil is on sale, Mobile, Valvoline, Castrol, it doesn't matter to me.
