Hi All

I am looking to swap to electric fans, Reading up on the swap I'm thinking I may need a bigger alternator.

I have a Taurus that crapped it's tranny. I will likely use the 2 fans from that to swap into my F150.

I think my truck has a 95 amp and the Taurus's came with 130 amp alternators.

They sure look like they are the same as far as the mounting tabs.

My truck is a 95 F150 4.9L, 5spd, A/C, Cruise, No power locks or windows or anything else.
The Taurus is a 97, 6cyl push rod not the overhead cam one. Power everything.

Looking at the alternators they appear to have the same mounting tabs and electrical plugs.
If it does fit I would like to swap them instead of paying $160 for a new one?

First question is - Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on this so I don't blow anything up my favorite truck?

Second question is - Whatever alternator I upgrade to can I just install it or do I need do anything else after installing the bigger one?

Thanks in advance for any advice or guidance on this.
Bill

It looks like there both alternators are the 3g style.

So am I reading this right, that it now is just a matter of seeing if the Taurus one will physically fit in the hole on my truck?

i know that a 95 f-250 with a 4.9l motor had an 95amp alt and a 130 alt . I did this for my 95 f-150 with a 4.9l motor.
