Well my cousin had a starter fail on his blazer and had to have it towed home. Well after tryng to take it off and fix it and failed due to it having to jack up the tranny and engine he put it back on and he started it up and it back fired and went straight to 6000 rpm and died. Everytime he starts it, it goes to 6000 rpm and dies. His starter has a bad spot but we cant see it being the cause for it to go to 6000rpm on start up. He changed out the computer and still has the same problems. His lights and inside electronics work fine but everything under the hood wont work. He hooked up a code reader and it wont respond but he hooked it up to other vehicles and it works fine on them. Before all of this it ran and drove just fine. There any way it could have thrown itself out of timing?

This is his only vehicle and needs help ASAP.

sounds like the harness at the firewall got pulled check that the plug that is there is fully seated. also check the vacum lines a large leak would cause this

Forgot to say the year of it. It is a 1998 blazer.

I will tell him to look for those problems.

Anybody else have some light to shed?

vacuum leak. and maybe computer is kicking in a saftey and shutting down? unplug all of your vacuum ports cap them off and restart, if runs kindda normal start reconnecting lins untill you find the one that is causing the problem. if not maybe a pinched wire harness. good luck and keep us posted
