I'm thinking of swapping out my 2.9L Engine for a Cummins 4BT. I've got a manual Tranny that needs replacing but I want to keep it Manual.
Suggestions on where to find a Cummins 4BT?
What kind of Tranny would be a good one?
Cost estimates?
Thanks!

they had them in the bread van delivery trucks like the wonder bread or frito/lay trucks. and i think that they have adapters for most transmissions

the bread truck had a ford t18 for a trans. I my in the process of rebuilding a 4bt from one i am thinking of using a zf6 for a trans for having over drive. the rebuild will cost about 2200 to 2500 ish with upgraded internals and a upgraded turbo. a remanded trans is about 1200 ish + a clutch and adapter will be about a 1000.( this is just a est price from web searches)

+1 on finding a breadvan with the Ford transmission. You can usually get whole, running vehicles for about $3000+. Take the engine and engine to transmission adapter out and you can put any small block ford transmission w/bellhousing behind it. I would probably recommend a ZF from late eighties to nineties Ford F-Series (with 300, 302 or 351 engines). The M5OD-R2 would also work from the same vehicles but the ZF is stronger and has a granny low first gear but at the cost of about a hundred pounds heavier, both these two trannys are overdrive.

You'll probaly want both a body lift and suspension lift to help make the 4bt fit, it is a very tall engine, at least that's what others have done.
