I would like to change up my exhaust a little. I am happy that its quite while cruising and when i push down to the floor i hear more intake than exhaust. I was thinking about just changing up the tailpipe for a cleaner look but now im thinking of replacing the muffler as well. I want something that isnt much louder then stock and something that doesnt sound like flowmasters on a 4cyl. I have a 2.3L! Or should i just change up the tailpipe and spend money on something else.

I put a Trailblazer resonator on my 2.3 - but I think it might be just as restrictive as a stock muffler.

If you have a cat converter, you could get away with a Thrush Turbo (About $30) and a 2 1/4" tail pipe out the side or back and a tip.

I also like to hear my exhaust, but have no resonance or attract any attention.

check out the dynomax catback system. i have one on my 3.0 and loved it. deep growl under acceleration but quiet at idle and highway speeds.

JTBeast3000, when you installed the dynomax system did you have to weld it? I am looking for the same thing and I saw that catback on ebay but it looks like it comes in many peaces.

I had one of them dynomax cat backson my 3.0 too, I also loved it. To answer your question, the kit comes with claps. Toke me 30mins too put it on, cut off old stuff, clap on new stuff...pretty straight forward.

i had a flowmaster installed today for $100 (labor +material). The series 40 sound adds a very nice flavor the the entire truck.

sorry I didn't reply faster, but this is what I would have said anyway. took about 30-45 min total to cut the old one out and clamp the new one in with minimal tools.

I've had a Gibson cat-back on mine for about 8 years and love it. Has a deeper tone than stock, a nice throaty sound on accel and you hardly notice it when cuising. Took off the stocker and installed it on my 30 min. lunch break. Fit perfectly, never had an issue with it. Highly recommended.
