Anyone have a camper shell on their Ranger and actually use it for camping?

Let's see some photos of your camping setup with a camper shell (truck cap).

I've always known them as truck caps. I've heard them called shells, camper shells, and now canopies.

I would like to expand on a camping section here at TRS, and I'm looking for photos and ideas to share.

Odd that they are called something different in different regions. Here in Montana, idaho, Washington, and oregon ive only ever heard the term "topper" or "canopy."

Never heard them called a canopy, only ever called em a cap.

This was on my old ranger, after the first thaw of spring.

Sorry, didn't use it for camping, used to keep gear dry & stored while hunting, and had a real camper to sleep in. It was way too cold to sleep in it, even the real camper had a couple heaters going to give a good nights sleep.

Never used one to camp in, but they work great for keeping your camping gear secured and dry.

Here in Idaho they're called Camper shells, canopies, toppers, you name it.

I had one on my 84 Ford ranger installed the day after the truck was purchased by my grandfather, it was never taken off afterwards, never leaked either.

Up here a camper is not a canopy. Camper refers to a RV that goes in your bed. Although similar, campers generally have beds, stove fridge ect

We also know canopies as topper or cap.I hear camper shell and I think gutted camper, not canopy...

Here a couple of shots of mine.

1st one is on Schofield Pass in Colorado.
2nd one is my sleeping platform just as I finished the fridge cutout/installation.

I tent camp a lot, but spent a week sleeping in the truck in Death Valley. It is really very comfortable. A little tight for 2...

Man, that looks like a great setup. Would love to see more photos of it, along with some showing how it's all set up at the camp site.

Here is a shot of my shell camper.

This one is in action in the dirt of Nevada. You can see the nose of Scott's Ranger on the left.

This one is in action amongst the trees in Great Basin National Park.

My custom canopy. I like the soft cover look more than the hard. I've only slept in it a couple times. I'm 6'3", so my short bed is a little scrunched up.

That's all I got of it right now.
