Far from home or a decent wrecking yard. Cracked both heads. During replacement i misplaced the injectors (i know, rookie mistake) and can only find 92tf-aa redtops from 94 4.0 ranger. Originals in mine were 90tf-aa blacktop. Will the redtops work or will i need to change sensors? My rig is a 91 explorer 4.0. And before anyone says buy new the closest parts store is 3hrs away and they want 120ish a pop. Cant afford it. Reason for urgency is we are supposed to start our 700+ mile trip home in two days and i need to know if i need to have a friend overnight some from home.

They will be close enough for jazz. I put a 92 engine in my 87 with a 94 harness and control system. It ran fine until one went out. I replaced with ones for a 94 and it still runs fine.

a 1990-92 will tend to run rich when run with red-tops

The red tops are a different nozzle type and a different internal valve type.

The "Reds are a disc pintle-injector with four sprayer nozzles in a square pattern, because of their design they are able to cycle more rapidly, they were adopted going into 1993 for the first of the (CA-emissions) SEFI engines.

These injectors also tend to draw more current as they are a different impedience than the older injectors, so I would be concerned about the exra current draw damaging the injector driver transistors in the PCM, especially since your non-sefi computer has only one for each "Batch" that fire together as a set of three.

a SEFI computer has six drivers, one for each injector...
