hi, I´m about to rebuild my 2.9 engine. next week i will install the new heads and reassemble everything else. So here´s the question:
Which gaskets need high temp silicone and where do they need it?

I checked the tech page for 2.9 head swaps but i´m afraid i still didn´t got it

thanks

Generally speaking the head gaskets should not need any sealant applied. That said I usually put a coat of spray-on copper sealer on them before installing.

The lower intake gaskets need sealant at any point that two pieces of metal meet, so at the corners where the heads come to the block.

The upper intake gasket is the same as the head gaskets, it shouldn't need any sealer, but it doesn't hurt to spray some copper on it.

first time ever upper engine rebuild.

upper engine rebuild of a 1989 2.9 2wd. now putting it back together. When I removed the Oil dip stick and it's sleeve I slowly worked it back and forth until it eased itself out. Now, three weeks later I cant find the little hole where it reinstalls. Is there a diagram for this? Will I be able to see the hole from above the engine or from underneath?
