After getting a compression reading of 60 with all of the other 5 cylinders well over 130, bad gas mileage and a slight haze on the truck body near the tail pipe I pull start pulling parts to check the valves.

After removing the rocker arm I noticed that one of the valve stems above the cylinder in question seemed to be sticking out much further than the others. Upon removing the head, a quick flip and there's a very noticeable crack on the exhaust valve for the number 2 cylinder.

Removing the valves from the head also shows that the seat area for the cyl. 2 is much more recessed than the others and is getting to be pretty sharp near the inner edge of the seat. It also doesn't seem to have much room left for wear. These are stock heads at about 230k miles.

Is this normal for these heads, or is it getting time to replace them?
