Was wondering if there was an economy gauge that I could install into my 88 2.9l ranger. Everything that I have been able to find online is for the obd2 or CAN system. Has anyone put one into an 88 and if so could you direct me to where I could purchase one.

I saw something about someone installing a fuel economy gauge that they got off some other ford vehicle. I don't recall the generation of their vehicle.

I've been kicking around the idea of making a fuel consumption gauge that would report in gallons per hour or liters per hour. Not MPG, but it would give a good idea what is getting consumed. I don't know if anything like I been thinking exists. I would set a microcontroller to monitor the fuel injector signals and use the flow rate for computation. it should be reasonably accurate but would be very dependent on how stable fuel rail pressure is.

Was looking for something off the shelf or something I could mod in from a donor vehicle.

Simple vacuum gauge on the dash will help you get the best MPG.
High vacuum is best MPG, low vacuum is worst MPG
