What is the tow capacity of a 1992 ranger 2WD, 3.0L v6 auto O/D?
I have heavy duty shocks up front and coil over shocks in the rear.
I want to tow a boat. The boat/trailer combo weighs 2200lb and it has trailer brakes.

Do you have a the regular step bumper hitch, or do you have a receiver hitch?

Then yes, you should be fine, however, does your pickup have the proper setup to utilize the trailer brakes? If so, even better!

I am not sure of what the ratings are for your specific pickup, but I wouldn't hesitate to pull that load.

Boat trailer probably has surge brakes.

I had heard one time, back in the Holler that the tow capacity for a '96 4.0,
4x4, was 79,800 lbs. I also know from experience a '94 4x4 ext cab will haul and tow a load of firewood in the bed up the the top of the cab and a 16' trailer loaded about three layers high of 24-36" diameter oak logs, 4' long! It wasn''t fast, I ain't saying the front wheels weren't about to bounce off the ground and it was legal, but it got 'er done!
You should be good. I'd say taking off and going wouldn't be the hard part, slowing that train down would!

Look at your manual for a specific answer but i believe it it around 2800 to 4000 pounds and 4.0 4x4 up 6000 pounds of towing and not 1300 pounds of payload

The correct number would be found in the owners manual. Just for reference, looking at a similar '03' with the 2.3L, it's rated at 2360 lbs while the 3.0L is rated at 4120 lbs. Frontal area is another thing people forget but with what you're pulling wouldn't worry at all. Go for it and don't worry!
