Got it for 3200$, has the 3.0 with 214k miles. The only work I've done to it for the month I've had it is:
-a complete break job (rotors, pads, bearings, shoes, ect.)
-replaced the failing fan clutch
-change oil & filter (Castrol GTX High Mileage & Motorcraft filter)
-New Goodyear wrangler radial Walmart tires
-New lug nuts
-Stripped chrome off front center caps and bought used ones for the back and painted them black
-New pioneer speakers
-and 98 cent eBay grenade valve stem caps to add hp

To do list
-U pol Raptor Bed-liner (This is the best DIY bed-liner I've found thus far in my research)
-New Exterior Mirrors (mine are cracked)
-New windshield & rear-view mirror (both cracked lol)
-8.8 explorer ls rear end w/ drums & 3.73 gears
-Dana 35 swap (I luckily got the hybrid)
-Front locking hubs
-Rustoleum everything on the underside
-New shocks
-New Stereo
-regear to 4:11 or 4:56
-New 33" tires with \/
-3in body lift (I wouldn't be lifting this way if it weren't for the fact that it makes a 5.0 swap easier)
-5.0 swap
-paint
-many small things too as y'all know....

Pics:
Hauling hay

Front Brakes

Showing of them tires

Previous owner's brake job (They put both primary shoes on one side and both secondaries on the other....)

87$ Walmart tires with old caps and lug nuts

Rear brake job completed

Tailgate handle fixed and new tailgate cable installed (later)

Washing the Truck (Always looks better wet)

Tell Me what y'all think. I've grown to love this thing and have already put about 3k miles on it the month or so I've had it (I'm a concealer at a church-camp and thats a 75 mile drive). This forum has helped my immensely with all of my maintenance so thanks for that too.

It looks good. I like the Splash trucks. Especially 4wd.

With a list of to do items that big I'd still be rolling used junk tires. You'll be wanting some real meats under there before long.

I'd also do the disk brakes when I did the rear.

I would do disk breaks but that would require a new master cylinder right? Well realistically I will probably drive the 50000 mile life expectancy of these tires before I ever get to installing new tires. Even if I don't my 54 Chevy restoration needs tires to roll on and I purchased these with that in mind too.

If you're doing mirrors anyway, have you thought about the '06 swap? I love the look they gave my flareside!

This. Looks way better and is a much better mirror for visibility.

Wow I will defiantly buy me a pair of 06 mirrors then. This is exactly what I was looking for thanks! Will I be able to keep power mirrors? I saw the thread on installation, it seems pretty straightforward. Just didn't see anything about power mirrors.

I never had power mirrors in my ranger, but im planning on putting dodge ram towing mirrors on my tacoma and they work with the power ones. Dont see why a ranger to ranger wouldnt work.

Sorry to change thread direction but, since we're already talking about mirrors, does anybody here know of any good looking big towing mirrors for the Rangers? It seems like I remember somebody talking online about some extending f-350 lookalike mirrors that were made to fit the Ranger. Any info? I love my '06 mirrors to death but I'd really like something that I can extend because my trailer is so wide.

I have heard mixed views on this, but it seems that the best results are gotten from putting the Explorer master on if you use the Explorer rear.

But the need to replace the master should be the last thing that deters you. Aside from the axle seals and brake pads I think the master was the single cheapest part that I purchased when I did my swap. It is easy to install too. The 95 Explorer master bolted right to my 87. Just needed some line adapters.

Rangurr measure the little triangle area where the mirror goes and as long as the new one well fit in there you should be able to(with a little modding) make the new ones work.

Well this is one of the last times I'm going to be home this summer and I need the ranger to be dependable while I'm away from home. So I have taken it upon myself to do a minor tune-up. I'm really just replacing what I know it needs and servicing mechanics that have obviously been neglected by the previous owner. Today I replaced all 6 spark plugs (fun stuff) and the fuel filter. I also lubed the transmission linkage. After doing the services listed above my truck drives and runs MUCH better. Night and day. Tomorrow (last day before I ship out), I'm going to try to find and fix the issue I have with the truck slamming into reverse and drive. I believe its the rear end because its making alot of initial noise. Hopefully some cheap diff oil will fix my problem. If the rear is toast then the 8.8 is coming early! Anyways, here are pics of what I've done tonight.
