Where is a good place to buy new injectors? My injectors are ticking so loud you can here it inside with the windows up and its driving me nuts!

Local part store want 50-90 per, is that just the going rate? Anyone know of a source to get them cheaper? Or is there something to make them quieter? I have run a bottle of Red Line through so far.

Why are you so sure it's injectors? They make nosie, but don't usually get too loud. To an untrained ear injectors, lifters, and exhaust leak all sound very similar, will behave similarly, and exhaust or lifters are much more likely given your description, and are more common issues.

I have used a long handled screw driver to listen inside the valve covers, all I hear is a nice sewing machine sound. Using the same method on the injectors yields a really loud tick tick and actually will get loud with revving the motor.

I did have an exhaust leak under the passenger seat at the flange but have fixed it. I have suspicions about the header gasket but I do not smell exhaust when I stick my head down in there. Also the sound definitely sounds like it is on the top. I also have a slight miss at idle. I have done all tuneup stuff also.

Check ebay. I got a set of reman Bosh injectors for my 4.0 for about $50. More than a year in and I have no issues so far.

Woops!! sorry, didn't read your post right, thought you were asking if you should go with a higher lb. injector. I think the 2.9's are somewhere around 16 or 17... Don't take that as gospel, though...

The ones I bought for my 2.9 were 14lb. This was supposed to be stock.

I was wondering this exact same question.. I for sure have a leaky injector or two and a think a few gummed up ones. I know you can get some dirt cheap from rock auto, but just wondering if anyone has ever used these? Or if you're better off spending more on them

Well, on my 02, 4.0, I been listening to the injectors since I got it new in 01. You can hear them at idle inside the cab when at a light. I just figure it is the way it is and stopped worrying about it some ten years ago. To be sort of a grump, I would say, "Use the radio volume control knob before tearing into a good running rig."
