working on a 89 chevy with a 350, the blinkers on the drivers side blink untill you turn the lights on (running lights or driving lights), then it quits blinking and the light goes solid. replaced the bulbs and noticed that its not using both filaments when switching the lights on, it just turns the filament that blinks to a solid.

the thing the lights mounts in is kinda messed up and if you push one bulb sideways it quits working all together. ive traced all the wiring till it dissapears and havent noticed any modications or bare spots in the wiring, it looks original.

Is it still the round style or the blade style? I had that problem with my Firebird until I went and bought the blade style with pigtails... Something about the round style eventually develops an internal short.

If it is already the blade style, check to see if you've got one in cock-eyed... the problem came back in my firebird when one of the bulbs somehow wiggled loose (inside the socket ) and was bridging the two filaments.

its the round style, how do you convert them? can you just buy the blade style and wire it in? or i guess maybe hit up the junk yard.

Most autoparts stores sell them for about $10-15/each. I would recommend replacing all of them at once, but that may be about a $75-100 repair when you factor in new bulbs too. Take the housing in with you so that you can confirm the fitment.

Don't do what I did the first time and get all the way home and the lights installed and notice you have no bulbs for them. :annoyed:
