Lift blocks

I bought some 2 inch blocks for my 2000 ford ranger 4x4 offroad, and I'm scared to stack the new solid aluminum blocks on the factory 2.5 inch blocks, is it possible to make your own or maybe get used 2.5 ranger blocks and weld both the steel blocks together or should I just use shackles or lifted springs? Thanks

Stacked blocks can kick out, big blocks (like two welded together) make for more spring wrap which isn't good either.

Best bet to do it right is shackles and/or springs. :icon_thumby:

I used explorer leaves on mine with 3" blocks and my home brew spring perches with some random leaves from a lifted pack acting like add a leaves as well as Belltech shackles and ended up with about 6" lift... If you are just going for 2" lift I would start with Explorer leaves (4 door used set can be had on craigslist for like $50, all you have to do is flip the center bolt...) and will give around 2" lift. If you want a little more from there go with chevy drop shackles, they'll give about 1" of lift.

I wouldn't recommend a bunch of blocks, with my setup I have a LOT of axle wrap and it's the equivalent of about 3.5" of blocks, and I did a tractor pull with this setup once and did a bunch of damage... in the tune of twisting an axle tube, breaking the lock ring for the rear output bearing on the transfer case, bent and twisted the driveshaft, and pierced the radiator with the fan... that was an expensive lesson :)

Explorer springs are cheap and easy... IMO they killed the ride of my truck. Like a unloaded 1 ton. The truck in your avatar is an extended cab and would be heavier than my std cab longbox which would help a lot.
