I have a 16 foot tandem axle trailer with E-brakes on the front axle. My truck is a Mazda B3000 Duel Sport, I also have a 2004 fx4 4.10 locker rear axle for it. I would like to install a trailer brake controller on the truck to make it better for towing. I will be moving to Lemoore,CA from Jax,FL and trailering my 66 VW bug.

This is what I prefer. Whatever you get, an interia controller is far superior to one of those $30 time delay electronic controllers. The controller I suggested is easy to set up and use. Less advanced interial controllers had to be adjusted so that an internal pendulem thing was level.

Don't even waste your time with the time delay thing. It stops the same whether changing speed or a moose runs in front of your truck. And empty you slide trailer tires.

They are a joke and have no practical use for real world trailer pulling IMO... I have a Hoppy one in my F-150 and I hate it.

With no weight in the trailer the tires lock up when braking...

another words, the time based units suck! If you get one, you will hate towing. Spend the money and get a inertia based unit.

I originally used the "Drawtite" time delay controller that came
with the trailer (supplied by the trailer dealer).

After the third one failed and I gave up and bought a Tekonsha Voyager-II
I realized that "Free" was no bargain.

I second the Prodigy controller. Easy setup and works great.

I towed my bug down to the paint shop the other day and the trailer pulls very well, even with out trailer brakes. I will still be putting them on though.
