67,000 original miles, runs good except, the throttle 'sticks' at a certain rpm, then must Mash the accelerator pedal to make it reduce rpm's. Cable all lubed, even put a double return spring on the throttle body at the cable end. Same result, any suggestions most appreciated.

Did you clean the throttle body? 67000 original miles on an '89 makes me think it had a lot of time to sit and collect dust

Remove the cable from the TB and check for binding, it the throttle body is completely free then remove the cable and lube it from the bottom with WD40 and make sure the pedal does not bind.

And don't ignore the IAC. If it is sticky it can do the same thing, complete with throttle mashing to bring down idle.
