I have access to a first gen ford ranger body for dirt cheap. and i own a 1990 ford ranger regular cab short box, the body is garbage not worth saving at all.

this first gen bod and box are both regular cab/short box as well. Im wondering if this will for the most part switch over easily without modifying the frame? I can deal with moving stuff from on ranger body to the other. just don't want to d anything to the frame if I don't have too.

thanks Jason

The cabs are the same, just different cosmetically. They will swap fine, wiring will be different though...

Yes, the swap is easy enough due to them being pretty much identical on that level. You may find the body mounts need to be repaired or even replaced on the rusty one...and even those can be swapped in most cases...you may need to drill new holes or just go out and buy new mounts...the hardware is what seems to give everyone a bit of a sticker shock...

I was just reading one guys tale of torture (Purple is the user name) and he bought the poly whatevers without the bolts or sleeves for $70...then found out that the proper bolts and sleeves to mount the spacers is very expensive...

I did the same 11 years ago...swapped the cab only to find out the hardware was $80 per mount...x 6 and I was looking at $500 just for new hardware...ouch!

It should be possible to use the 1990 wiring without modification if the dash is reusable... Just put the 90 dash in the 1st gen cab.
