How and could you get more torque out of the 2.9?
More for crawling than go fast.

Longer stroke....oh wait, that's what you get with a 4.0l. lol. Any way, first thing that pops into mind after more stroke is deeper gearing. 5.13 gears. A doubler. A second transmission ala gwaii.

Ya looks like gearing is my best option. I would like to build a 2.9. I know I know. 4.0 swap blah blah

Well the 2.9 can be stroked to something like 3.3 or 3.5L but if you do that you pull the engine, take it all apart, put it back together and throw it back in.

Or you can throw a 4.0 in and get more stroke and not have to rip the engine apart if you get a good one.

I have just done the 4.0 and 302 swap before. I would like to do something different.

Now you're talking! But might be a little on the high rpm for crawling....[I know next to nothing about the cosworth].

The Cosworth is a standard 2.9 block with an OHC setup, similar to the 4.0 SOCH, and dual TB 5.0/5.8 truck style.

But yes, high RPM for crawling. Supercharging would be better.
