I had never seen this before on and injected vehicle. Sure, I've seen a carb get full of fuel for various reasons. But wow...

Leaking injector(s). You were just lucky the intake valve wasn't open or it would hydro-lock the engine.

Got the rail off, BTW,to hell with the location of those bolts on the drivers side.. and got the injectors out. they were pretty gummed up. Going to clean them out, new O-rings and see how it goes. the "mechanic shop" I got the truck from couldn't figure out why it wouldn't run..... last time it got inspected was in 2013. Apparently it wouldn't start one day and they said screw it and left it to sit.

With at least one runner full of fuel (I can't see #3 very well) I would just replace all 6 injectors. You have one leaking, cleaning them is not going to improve that.

I would also suggest that you remove all the spark plugs before you turn it over the first time. There is a good chance at least one cylinder is full of fuel.

Also it is a good idea to disable the coil so you don't see a ball of flame. (Yes it looks impressive but is hard on your heart.)

Sometimes it sets the whole truck on fire too.

haha, yeah, first thing I did was remove the spark plugs checked them all out, then replaced them just for good measure. pickled the engine for a couple days with the absolute cheapest oil I could buy, thanks tractor supply. replaced the oil and she fired right up.... and then she didn't. that led to pulling things apart... and here I am now. It's been interesting the last couple weekends. this weekend will be a trip to the yard to scavenge for random stuff.

Went through all the injectors, all working well, put them back in and it happened again. so, come to find out when I took the valve cover off, the push rods on both intake valves had come out, one was bent, one was just sitting in there.

She's running-ish now, just having trouble getting the timing and idle right. This motor hasn't run in years, either way I'm happy. Got the donor this past weekend for the transplant, this should be fun.
