i have a 1997 ford ranger xlt 4.0l v6 and idk what would be the best exhaust system to put on it. i was thinking super 40's series flowmasters.
i understand that i do have a v6 and it will never sound like a v8 but i still want it to be as loud and good sounding as possible.
any ideas?

No such thing as best exhaust. Honestly its all a matter of opinion. I like my super 44 but other people prefer other things. You may end up having to swap different mufflers in and out till you find what you like.

Personally, I like the sound of my 4.0 with no muffler and side exit.

i like my heart-throb exhaust. It rumbles but isn't obnoxious.

I run a Flowmaster 40 and I love it. Nice rumble and not to annoying at all. I have used other brands and liked them as well. There are a lot to pick from. Make sure you get stainless or aluminum system. All mine have been that and they last a long time. I ran mine from the cat back and the pipes I use are stainless and still looks great after several years of use. I ran it as a single exhaust and hung it like the original system out the right rear of the truck. I really don't think you really need a dual exhaust system unless you are running headers for all out performance. My rides with headers ran the best with a dual exhaust system. Big difference there.

Like daniel said, its all a matter of opinion. Me personally, I like my gibson exhaust, has a real nice deep done and isn't raspy at all.

I kind of liked mine too when I had it, but the fit wasn't all that great and the y-pipe rotted out in about a year and a half.

I swear I see a thread like this every day. Anyhow, I have a Flowmaster 40 on my truck and love it, it came with the truck though. It gives the truck a nice rumble and is loud enough that my friends can hear me coming, which I always love.
