It seems my brake fluid has turned a dark green or blue.

What causes this and what are the effects? I am thinking I should fully bleed and replace all the fluid.

Basically it is caused by moisture absorption. Brake fluid likes water, and will absorb it right out of the air.

So when it starts to turn green that is time to change it as holding that much water can start rotting the lines from the inside out.

The way I do it is use a hand pump with the little bottle in the line to empty the reservoir as much as possible, then refill it. Then start at the farthest wheel and start bleeding the old stuff out.

Thanks, it is pretty dark so I probably missed the start. Thanks for answering my follow up question as to what wheel to start with.
