Hey everyone!
1997 Ranger 4x4 4.0l 5spd non-tilt steering column
Long story short I bought the truck without a key. The ignition switch was pulled out and zip tied under the dash. I had to push the little metal rod on the switch to start the truck. The ignition cylinder stayed in the off position and the steering lock doesn't work. I finally put a new ignition cylinder in and it turns like it is supposed to. I went to mount the ignition switch under the steering column like it should be but the little plastic slide piece that the metal rod goes into didn't have a hole for the rod and it doesn't move when I turn the key.
Now my questions.....does the steering lock being broke have to do with that slide not moving? Is the only way to fix a broken steering lock and get that plastic slide to move to put in a new steering column?
