I have a 1994 Ranger XLT 3.0, 6 cylinder.
I'm switching out the ignition lock cylinder and when I pulled the old one out, apparently, a gear that sits inside the hole behind it, fell out. I know it goes back in the cylinder hole, but I don't know which way the gear should be facing. Should the little extension that sticks out at the bottom of the gear be facing toward the steering column, or toward the passenger seat? Below are photos of the lock cylinder HOLE, and the new cylinder with BOTH install options. Thanks for your help.
