for the most part, those that are upgrades or add-ons suck! why? because people don't take the time to get them aimed correctly and all they do is durn near blind me. had to drive to work in a thick fog this morning. saw a few cars that had the bright, blue-white lights and it looked like they were getting much more reflection back from the fog than my halogens. just my $.02.

My credo
If you're not making mistakes, you're not learning.
Unless you get the correct lenses and have them aimed correctly, they are the devil. Pure, bright, evil.

Yeah you can see better, but they completely blind ME.

I also think it's illegal to put HID's in non-HID housings.

hmmm... maybe i should get one of those aiming spotlights like the cops have. then when one of those a**holes with the improper HID's are hitting me square in both eyes, i can just fire back at them. just a thought.

They are very dangerous without the proper housings and are illegal. They may be brighter for you but they blind everyone else on the road. You will piss a lot of people off with them and could very well piss off the wrong person. Ive seen cars get blinded by them and actually start to drift over into oncoming traffic while trying to look away or shield their eyes.

Not to mention you lose the option of hi low beams, well you can still get them but its kinda retarded... and they blind others and they may be brighter but the color can offer less lighting to you, like the purple and dark blue ones are darker light, oxymoronic yes, false no. If I were to get some they would be 4,500 - 5,500K at most.

Some of the cheap HID kits have been known to not last very long.

Nothing like reckless endangerment, disturbing the peace... believe me, not a smart idea...

My credo
Perfection is worth the wait
whenever i'm driving in fog/rain and some jerk has improperly installed HID's, he is either blinding everyone or is blinding himself with all of the reflective glare. Either way, it's dangerous. Also, if you need lights that bright to see the road to drive, the optomitrist is waiting to see you, Stevie.

Don't bother putting HID's in your stock housings. Its inconsiderate to other drivers and you'll not really be doing yourself any favors over just installing brighter bulbs that will actually aim properly in your stock housings.

If you really want to upgrade the lighting on your truck, install some proper bulbs (silverstar or phillips...the phillips are better but you usually can't buy them locally) and add a good pair of driving lights wired into your high beams with a relay, put 100w bulbs in them and you'll be good to go! Just be sure to dim them for oncoming drivers, but otherwise they're great! :icon_thumby:
