Future mods

After further tear down I realized that I had no shackles I don't know how they were still on the truck but I also found that I had a broken spring it's a good thing I have extras I didn't get any pictures of it though I ran out of daylight
However I did get the old axle out was able to save the parking brake cables too

After further investigation on this site I found out that 8.8 axle drive shaft doesnt bolt to the rangers extension shaft. So no new updates yet. Soon to come work on the front end

Removed the old axle

The old axle

The d35

The d35 is now in the truck after a long time fighting it the stock front shaft bolts right up the rear shaft does not.

I removed the round thing on the rear axle and drilled new holes taped them an used my original drive shaft

Only thing left to do is
Hook up brakes
Bleed brakes
Relocate the rear shock mounts
Put shocks on
Replace the battery termenals
Fix the shifter
Replace the transfercase or weld it
Put the interior back in
put the new bed on

If you bolted the stock front driveshaft up to d35 you might wanna check the spline engagement at the transfer case before you try to flex that suspension.

I needed a shorter driveshaft because with the extra length of the d35, the splines were full pressed into the transfer case at ride height and I installed a washer for about 1.5" of lift at the same time.

Depending on what transmission you have, there may be a shorter driveshaft as a stock part for an earlier model.

As for the rear driveshaft, I'd go (I did actually) with a single piece from a 98+ 4WD. It's the correct length, doesn't need a carrier bearing, and will bolt up to the explorer axle and the 1350 transfer case. Just make sure you find a steel shaft as the aluminum one is larger around and will probably rub somewhere.

Edit: BTW, what size tires are those?

I'll just leave this here in case you haven't seen it before.

Washer Coil Spacers

Note that if your axle has maxed out bushings from the factory this won't be align-able afterward.
