Hey guys, this is going to be an ongoing project thread, hopefully with pictures (if there's a way to post them on here from an iPhone)

So far my 90 ranger has had a 4.0 swapped into it and a manual transmission from a 2001 sohc. D35 front, 8.8 read all swapped in, re welded body mount tabs into it. But I feel it's not enough yet, so I'm going to supercharge it.

So far for the swap I've gotten an adapter plate made for the 4.0 ($550)
An ported eaton m112 (a steal at $300)
A throttle body and elbo ($120)
35lb injectors ($55)
80mm mass air calibrated for 35# injectors ($40-$50)
A hotter coil ($40)
An adjustable fuel pressure regulator ($50) yet to be tested for fitment.
random odds and ends totaling about $100 so far.

As I said, it's still a work in progress and I'll get back to you guys with updates as I have them

I have some pictures I'll post once I figure it out lol

Upload pics to an off-site pic hosting website such as photobucket. Image size 640 x 480 isn't too bad. Grab the "IMG" file and paste into your post.

Supercharger before I cleaned it

And after

Had to remove the inner lip of the supercharger (pained me to do it)

And the first mock up of the supercharger on the engine!

Anything you guys want to see don't hesitate to ask, and I'll post pictures promptly

Wow that was nasty. Why did you have to remove that lip? Did you remove the entire lip or just that section?

My supercharger base was flat, needed to remove it so it sits flat.

So glad most of my parts went to this project instead of 15 random places. Now I get to live vicariously through you and watch my dream project unfold before my eyes. So jealous!!

Little update, have to make a custom thermostat housing to clear the supercharger, I believe one off of a 2.9 *might* work, if not I'll make my own. Going to get my spare 4.0 on my stand so I can mock it up better.

I believe I'll be running 4-5 psi of boost, 40-50 psi fuel pressure.. I can't decide on the fuel pump or fuel lines yet.

Might see how much I can get away with with the stock tune, don't want to blow my 4.0 tho

Cool project! Got to love boost!

It is essential to lower timing and add fuel to prevent predetonation on a boosted application. You also do not want to go to all the work you are doing and not get the most out of it.

Please check-out Tweecer.com You can get a unit to DIY tune or get a chip burnt for you application. I have used a Tweecer RT to tune a supercharged 302, 351, 393 and now my 4.0 SOHC. You can get a basic driveway tune, based on your engine components and how much boost you are going to run.

An FMU or timing boxes are band aids compared to what you can do with a real tuner.

here's a picture of the bottom of the supercharger with he whole lip ground off.

I'll check them out, I had planned on using.. Maybe a quarter horse or preferably a stinger pimp, haven't seen anything from tweecer for anything like mine yet, but I'll definitely check them out

Now I have to figure out boost control/ pulley sizes.

The supercharger I got was ported by apten performance, and they also installed a 2.7 or 2.8 pulley on it, and on a mustang 4.6 that can make something like 18-20 psi of boost, I want 4-5 psi is all (for now) and I can find any good information about boost bypass valves nor anything about how eatons control boost.

But even a stock pully on a cobra can make 8-9 psi, so I'm at a bit of a rut for the moment, if anyone cares to shed some light on this for me, that'd be great!
