freeze plug

I just install new freeze plugs in my 2.9. When I put the coolant I had some leak. I drained the coolant, and put the ultra black gasket sealant around the freeze plugs a local shop said that they use bars leak to correct the problem I figure this will work I was wondering has anyone had this happen, and want to know what anyone else has done

I've never used it before and I won't ever use it, I've worked on to many things that it has messed up, it'll plug a heater core , I've seen it plug up thermostats, my budys s10 had it done and I did a coolant flush 3 times before all of it was gone

If I had a freeze plug that leaked after replacement and could get to it, I would replace it again and use the old fashion Permatex sealer during install. Or try the General Motors' type "fiber" leak stop. It won't plug anything. GM used to use it at the factory during assembly.

I don't think there is anything you can use from the outside that will last.

I've used the expanding rubber plugs. They work as long as they are the right size, seated deep enough and not cockeyed. Also of interest is aftermarket block heaters, some are also an expandable design.
