I swapped an 88 2.9 into a 89 ranger that was a 2.9 until it took a dump. Not sure what happened a I bought it without an engine. Anyway my problem is I cannot get it to run at all. It seems like the ignition timing is correct determined with a timing light. But after cranking ALOT I can pull a plug and there isn't the slightest hint of gas on the plug. So that leads me to think the injectors aren't firing. The fuel rail has pressure and fuel pump runs as it should. I'm wondering if the 88 engine doesn't have a crank sensor and the 89 is suppose to? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!!
