about 6 months ago i bought some ngk spark plug wires off rock auto. i was checking the spark plugs one day and couldnt get a good pull on one of the wires back ones, i accidntlly pulled the wire apart. ive tried a few times to push the thing back together but cannot get the rubber boot to slip over far enough because of the bend in it.

any one have experience with this? the cable only has like maybe 1000 miles on it, so id like to try and save it, for now im using an old cable.

WD-40 on the cable. I've run into this before too, and it is a PITA.

I had an improperly secured wire get caught and pulled apart by my steering shaft like that, it is a bastard to get past that bend.

I spit on it before I stick it into the boot. [emoji41] . Sometimes lubrication is hard to come by. But seriously I have done such a thing and it worked beautifully.

The insulation is a silicone compound, and it is pretty slick to the touch, but the rubber you are trying to force it through is sticky.

Your hand runs along your pecker just fine when they are both dry, but you try to stick it in the old lady without any lube and it isn't any fun. See what I'm saying?

While I am still chuckling over ADMS's response...to the OP...

try boiling the boot in water and putting the wire in the fridge and use a silicone based lube.

the heat on the boot will hopefully make it bigger and easier stick the colder and hopefully smaller diameter wire in.

Pretty much.

Last week I called a lady at the post office a grubby minion of the government, just out to screw the public like the rest of them.

Uh..Oh...you're in big trouble young man...look for the black helicopters soon. Rid your house of any thrice-used stamps, and make sure all your pillows and mattresses still have their tags. There are laws in Omerica you know.
