Texan 88; As someone has already stated, if you exceed your GCWR, you are at taking a risk. Towing a trailer is always risky, tire blows, wind, rough pavement, anyone of these under the right condition can cause all hell to break loose with a properly loaded and weighted rig. The closer you get to your max weight the greater effect small things will have on your rig, ie 2000lb trailer is 50 or 60 % of trucks weight, the trailer experences a tire failure the truck has the mass to pull it out of and control the trailer mass. The closer you get to even between truck and trailer the less brute force control you can apply, and the more control the trailer can take from you. Be safe & smart do not risk yourself, your truck or those around you. If you need a Travel trailer look at having one delivered or picking up locally at your destination. If you can go smaller go to a popup or a tear drop.

As a thought, you could rent a U haul truck, drive the Ranger into it, and tow the camper behind it. Haha.

Have you thought of just asking your parents to take it up for you. They have a day or so away from home and you get a place to live without the worry of getting it there. Pay for their gas if needed.
