Fortune Favors the Brave
Facebook is killing enthusiast websites like this.
I had both and managed to be regular on both when I had the Ranger.
Same now in the Mitsubishi forum and group I participate in.

I think the facebook sites might take more people who are in for a quick fix and never come back, but overall a good enthusiast site like TRS will always win out just for the fact that Jim mentioned about google not putting any hits for answers off of facebook. I think you will see the younger generation who wants everything placed in their outstretched hands (yes I do realize that there are some of the younger generation that are not like that :)) gravitate toward facebook/ instagram, but for those that want to really understand the problem and fix it, and for those who are looking at keeping their vehicles for a long time, they will come to the enthusiast sites.

Social Media in general can be a tool for enthusiast sites as well, because it is an easy way to talk and interact in real time. you can back that up with posts pointing toward the enthusiast site, and get them involved in the site through Social Media.

Some enthusiast sites are crap holes, or devolved into crap holes, but I would say that I have not found a site better than TRS. Lxforums and LHforums are the closest to it. they both have the cameraderie that TRS has, but the tech and the know how (while darn good) is not up to the level of TRS.

Clean your room before you criticise the world.
I hate face book it's just a bunch of people with nothin better to but stick there nose where it doesn't belong. And people are way to open on that site too, I don't want the world knowing what I'm doing every waking minute....just my 2 cents and I'll never leave trs as long as the site stays up I'll be a member

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
I refuse to Facebook. I was on it a few years ago and quickly left. It did nothing but irritate me. You see something you like and in a half hour it's so far down the page you can't find it. And I don't need to know what everyone is doing every minute of their day or what the steak on their plate looks like.

TRS is a great place. I like it here and I try to contribute as I can.

Facebook can be whatever you want it to be.

I have a tidy friend list, the annoying ones are either muted or unfriended. I don't post much.

My feed is a constant stream of Mustang, tractor, farm, aircraft and naval posts with a few Ranger pics coming thru too.

I rather enjoy it. :dunno:

Facebook groups are a terrible source of information. I unjoined almost all of the ones I was on and have come back to forums. The problem I had with FB groups is that there is no content organization, no way to search, and every tard in the world posts stuff without thinking so you end up with a thousand posts about how to fill the oil and what light bars are the best. Not to mention that every post turns into an argument!

I am only on a couple buy/sell/trade groups now and am finding that I enjoy posting and contributing to TRS and a couple other sites a lot more than wasting time on Facef***.

@RSH,
Good to see you are still around and doing well.

Off topic,
I don't like facebook either. It's there to mine your data so that corporate north amerika can sell you shyte. I originally joined because that was the only way to keep in contact with the 4x4 clubs that made up the race series that I participate in. I got sucked into the echo chamber of all the rightwing nut-jobs that seem to permeate the 4x4 scene when we had our federal election. I've purposely left facebook alone now for a couple of months and still get notices from facebook about people I have no true interest in. I will try to delete my account but from what I've read that is next to impossible. Google android phones are just as bad for data-mining but I don't have enough money to get out of that trap. I make sure that geo-location is turned off as much as possible and don't use my phone for money related business.
