Hey all new here... just bought a 85 ranger with a 3 inch lift. 2.8 and 5 speed 4x4. Well on my way home from picking it up it was grinding in the front. I jacked it up and the wheel wiggles but I see no play from the ball joint or tie rob so I'm assuming it's the wheel bearing. Does anyone have a write up on how to change the front wheel bearing on a 4x4 ranger? Thanks

My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
Go to THIS page and in the upper right corner, you will see links to several articles regarding hub replacement and bearing replacement. You should find something there that will describe what you need to do. The procedure is the same even if you put the same hub back on instead of replacing it with something different.

It's not a hard job. You may need to buy the big socket for the nut. But that's only $15-20. When dealing with bearings, cleanliness is your friend. If possible, do the work in a garage where the wind will not kick up dirt and dust to ruin your new grease and bearings.

Hi. Welcome to TRS.
At the top of every page there is the "tech articles". Also you can use the search button, the "google search" works better than the native search button. Here is a link to the page that will have the article you're searching for;
