I was wondered if anyone knew the weight of a 4.0 ohv and sohc. Tossing around ideas of what engine to put in a buggy. Weight being a huge factor. Anyone also know how much a 2.3 weighs? I know they are heavy but can't get a consistent answer. Thanks!

I want to say the OHV 4.0 weighs in around 530lbs with fluids. Not sure on the 4 banger.

Plane travel? I'll do my flying on the ground, thanks!
I'm not sure what the 4.0 weighs, but I remember it being said, as an early carbureted 2.3 should weigh something like 330-340 lbs idling in front of you... Or maybe that was without fluids, but fully dressed... Not 100% sure...

I'm pretty sure my 4.0 weighed in at 420 lbs when I sold it to the scrap metal folks.

4.0l OHV would weight 380-400 with block(complete) and heads, closer to 460 with intake/exhaust manifolds and accessories, including A/C, lol

Alright thanks! The 4.0 might be a little too heavy but if the 2.3 really is in the low to mid 300's I may go that route. Can anyone confirm this?
