best tranny for an 85 ranger 4x4 with a 2.8

The fm145 in my ranger is making noise and I want to know if I should put a rebuilt fm145 in it or seek other options. Anyone have suggestions?

upgrade to a 2.9 m5od if you can find one, if not then a 4.0 m5od.

I was thinking. I was just going to get a rebuilt on and put it in but I am unsure if it would come with the shifter and such. I was also thinking of upgrading to the bw 1354 but I want one with a manual shift.
